DO YOU HAVE A MINIMUM ORDER?
A $50 minimum order is in place. This can be for a single item or a combination of items.
DO YOU HAVE A STOCK BOX PROGRAM?
Yes we do. We stock a variety of different size boxes and ancillary products like strapping, carton sealing tape and stretch film as well. Contact your sales rep to get an up to date list with pricing.
DO YOU TAKE CREDIT CARDS?
Yes we do. We can take Master Card and Visa. Currently we do not take American Express.
DO YOU DO CO-PACK, FULLFILMENT AND ASSEMBLY OF COMPONENTS?
We do co-pack and fulfillment on a small scale. We also do assembly of pads and other corrugated products to assist the marketplace. Contact your sales rep on the scope and size of your project and see if we can help.
CAN YOU HELP WITH DESIGN?
SMC is staffed with teams of full time structural designers at each location. These designers are equipped with CAD stations and automated cutting tables for accurate and quick responses to your needs. SMC also has teams of graphic designers in place to help marry up the proper graphics with the structure we design.
DO YOU DO HAZMAT/UN PACKAGING?
We do a large amount of hazmat packaging at all locations. SMC is equipped to handle the production of all of these components as well as assist you in the testing process. We work hand in hand with many compliance managers to make it happen. Order tracking and material combinations are met with very tight material processes that are in place to ensure compliance on an order by order basis.
DO YOU HAVE A TESTING LAB?
SMC has a non certified, climate controlled testing lab at their Springfield, Mo location. Here we perform daily tests on our production processes to include Mullen and ECT values. We can also perform compression tests and evaluate paper combinations as well.
CAN YOU PROVIDE SHEET STOCK OR PADS?
Yes we can. We have a 98” corrugator in our Springfield, MO location. Here we run sheet stock for all locations to convert as well as pads to all markets we sell.
DO YOU OPERATE YOUR OWN TRUCKS AND DRIVERS?
At SMC we operate all of our delivery equipment with our own employees. We schedule these deliveries based upon your needs and receiving times available.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOURS OF OPERATION?
At all of our locations we are working a minimum of 2 shifts, 5 days a week. Many times we may be working thru the night or on the weekends to meet your needs.
WHAT IS THE AVERAGE LEAD TIME?
At all of our locations we schedule our plants with a very sophisticated scheduling system. Basically, your needs schedule our plants. As we would love to have 7-10 day lead times, that is not always the case as things happen. We are constantly turning orders in a much, much quicker time than that - as your needs will always take precedence.
DO YOU OFFER STOCKING OF PRODUCTS?
We offer floor stocking programs for appropriate items. You may call it min/max or KanBan but regardless, it is a systematic approach to make sure we have the appropriate inventory levels on hand at all times for your needs.
DO YOU PROVIDE ANCILLARY PRODUCTS AND EQUIPMENT?
SMC has an entire division and team of experts devoted to ancillary products and equipment needs. We can evaluate your processes for stock or custom equipment needs and do stock a variety of ancillary products such as strapping, carton sealing tape and stretch wrap.
HOW MANY COLORS CAN YOU PRINT?
At SMC we have several presses that can print 4 colors in a direct fashion to the board. We can also convert digital preprint as well as traditional preprint if the volume warrants this process. We can also apply litho labels directly to the corrugated. Let your sales rep know the scope of your project and we can apply the proper process to fit your needs. With some recent investments, we now have the ability to print 4 colors outside and 2 colors inside on a new, high speed Rotary Die Cutter.
DO YOU HAVE A CORRUGATOR?
SMC has a state of the art corrugator with quick change capabilities. It is a 98” Fosber. We can run C/Flute, B/Flute, E/Flute, B/C Flute and E/B Flute. This machine runs 3 shifts, 5 days a week.

DO YOU SHIP ON PALLETS AND IS THERE A CHARGE?
If you require us to ship your product on pallets, please let us know. There is a small charge to do so and we can make it happen according to your needs.
WHAT IS YOUR POSITION ON TOOLING COSTS?
Printing plates and cutting dies are sometimes necessary to produce certain items according to their specifications. SMC will procure those tooling needs on your behalf. This is your property that SMC will maintain in good working order.
WHAT ARE YOUR COVERAGE AREAS?
The typical market coverage area for each location would be roughly a 200 mile radius. We do however, on a regular basis, ship product much farther than this when the needs arise.
WHAT IS YOUR ON TIME DELIVERY PERCENTAGE?
On Time Delivery is a key metric we measure each month. Our goal is 100%. At each location, on a monthly basis we are averaging in the 95%+ range.
WHAT IS THE CURRENT RECYCLED CONTENT OF YOUR PAPER?
SMC has attained the certification of the Strategic Forest Initiative (SFI). This is evaluated each year and reported to maintain our certified status. Our current blend of recycled paper is 38%. We can run a 100% recycled sheet upon your request, just let us know.
ARE YOU ISO OR QS CERTIFIED?
We are not. We do have a formal quality program that has elements of ISO, QS and Malcolm Baldridge. This customized blend has given us what we feel is the appropriate mix of components to use in our production as well as administrative processes.
DO YOU OFFER WAX ALTERNATIVES?
We do. This is a coated linerboard that has the properties of a wax coating yet is totally repulpable and can be recycled. We also have a curtain coater that can be used for traditional wax applications.
DO YOU OFFER COATINGS AND WHAT ARE THEY USED FOR?
We offer a variety of different coatings either pre applied to the roll or put on with a blade applicator. These coatings can be used for oil resistance, water resistance, and many other properties. Just let your sales rep know what you are needing and we will match it up with the proper coating.
WHY DO EACH OF YOUR COMPANIES HAVE REGIONAL NAMES?
Southern Missouri Containers was founded in 1972. In 1984 Arrowhead Containers was started from a purchase of another box plant. Being in the Kansas City area, we tagged them with a regional name. In 1987 Wonder State Box was started in Conway, AR. Being in Central Arkansas, we tagged them with a regional name. In 2008 we started a company in Tulsa, OK and named it Sooner Packaging. SMC Packaging Group is the name we use to tie all of our family of companies together.
